Because of the impact Yelp could have on their financial performance, many business owners opt to pay Yelp an advertising and promotions fee to increase their chances of getting displayed on the platform. Consequently, advertising has been a primary source of revenue for Yelp. Finally, with the active engagement of both individual consumers and business owners, Yelp has managed to create a virtuous cycle and benefit from a growing network effect.

As the repository for reviews builds, more customers go to Yelp as their trusted source for information on local businesses. With the increased traffic on the platform, business owners become more willing to promote their Yelp profiles by paying for advertising and providing better produces and services.

Greedy wicked company policy. If my comment is not approved diane, then you probably work for yelp. It is only fair for people to be warned. Yelp allows total strangers to open businesses that font exist. Someone with a vendetta against me opened a biz page with my personal name on it and art stuff in the title.
